ASTROHERBALISM & MEDICAL ASTROLOGY

Firstly, it is very important for me to acknowledge the origins of my craft. The kind of astroherbalism and medical astrology that I practice is primarily informed by Hellenistic tradition, which was practiced in and around the Mediterranean between around 1st century BCE and 7th century CE, before making its way to the rest of Europe. Hellenistic astrology is deeply colonial, being a synthesis of ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian astrology, colonised by the ancient Greeks. I chose to study the more ancient systems of astrology, as I believe they paint a fuller, more detailed picture of a person’s place in the cosmos, rather than popular 20th century psychoanalytical astrology, which I find to be too individualistic and anthropocentric. There are larger forces at play; we are here to acknowledge that.

Medical astrology is an ancient system that associates various parts of the body, their diseases, foods and herbal medicines as being influenced by the planets and the twelve astrological signs. The natal chart acts as a blueprint for better understanding your constitution, using the four elements to unravel strengths and weaknesses in the mind, body and spirit.

Within all of our bodies, animal, plant or mineral, there are astrological forces at play. The plants are terrestrial reflections of the stars, each with their own biochemical, energetic, and psychospiritual vibration.

Just as the planets influence our own psychological and physiological constitutions, the plants too have a permanent planetary resonance imprint, imbuing them with unique characteristics and qualities. Astroherbalism systematically allows us to see the wholeness of people and plants, and their greater connection to the cosmos.

By looking at your natal chart, we can identify the underlying elemental forces that govern your health and constitution. By understanding the ways in which the energetics of the seven classical planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) are expressed in nature, we can begin to deeper know plants as individual beings, and understand how their properties may help certain organ systems and particular constitutions. By practicing astroherbalism, I am a conduit for the energy of the planets, expressed through the wisdom of the plants, gifted to us by the earth. As a guide on your journey to knowing yourself and the natural world more deeply, I aim to provide relief and transformative healing in its fullness, hoping to treat the cause, not the symptoms, of an individual’s pain and suffering.

When studying your chart, I will be able to see excess and deficiencies of elements and energies, and where you might need a little support. From this, I can make suggestions as to what herbs may support your healing, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

To conclude, it is very important for me to briefly state that I am a cosmobiologist (medical astrologer) and NOT a licensed medical practitioner. I am not providing you with medical opinion or advice, nor diagnosing or prescribing for any condition from an assumed medical standpoint. By working with me, you are receiving a ‘lesson’ in astroherbalism. I recommend that you reach out to your GP for diagnosis, treatment, medical opinion and advice.

When booking a session, you will be sent a more detailed medical waiver to sign before our time together. This sounds scary but is just a way of you letting me know that you fully understand that I’m not a doctor!
